FGSI & Your HPC Cluster or Supercomputer

By choosing to go with FGSI, you are getting a zero cost refresh of your existing nodes. You're also doing your bit for global CO2 emissions. Each Janus II contains two nodes, which have a processing capacity of 73GFlops each. As the trade in deal is a one CPU socket for one CPU socket swap you will almost certainly get a significant increase in processing capacity. It is also likely that the new equipment will have a power consumption of at least 50% less than the servers you are currently using and have a power factor of greater than 90%. As a result additional capacity in infrastructure can be achieved:

  • Extra capacity in input electricity
  • Extra capacity in UPS equipment
    • Each Janus II unit of 2 servers requires about 350VA
  • Extra capacity in cooling
  • More space
    • Janus II offers up to 84, 8 core servers, per cabinet
  • Extra Performance, More CPU Cores.
    • Decommission more servers than you trade in!

When you trade in, you don't have to produce the old servers straight away, you have 3 months to have the old servers ready for collection.

Note: You may want to purchase infiniband adaptors for your new nodes, or alternatively you can remove these from existing nodes prior to trade in (please check with us to ensure compatibility).
